Catalyst for Payment Reform

2016 A Typology of Benefit Designs

2016 A Typology of Benefit Designs

With the support of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, CPR teamed up with the Urban Institute to explore how established and proposed payment methods and benefit design options work.

This section of the project develops a new typology of benefit designs under two categories—cost sharing and contingent coverage—and focuses on designs that have the potential to change consumer behavior and its alignment with payment reform. This report also provides standard definitions for the benefit designs available in the marketplace.
