George Schwartz on the Benefits of Palliative Care for Patients and Caregivers

Lea Tessitore calls up George Schwartz to learn more about how palliative care positively impacted his and his late wife Judy’s experiences dealing with serious illness. After Judy was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer in 2002, George recalls how palliative care helped both of them become more informed about about her illness, what to expect next, and how to manage the physical and emotional burdens they faced. George also discusses how palliative care can greatly benefit caregivers of loved ones living with a serious illness.

CPR thanks George not only for joining us on the podcast, but for presenting during CPR’s and the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC)’s September 2018 Virtual Summit event: Employers’ Search for Value Continues with Serious Illness Care. If you want to learn more about this topic, check out the webinar recording! Additionally, CPR and CAPC created a Toolkit on Palliative Care Resources for Employers and Other Health Care Purchasers.
