Health promoters, or community health workers, represent a new and growing strategy to improve population health.

These non-clinical health professionals conduct high-touch outreach, establishing long-term relationships with plan participants with a spectrum of health needs and providing education, guidance, and a trusted go-to resource for members.

UHH’s in-house health promoter program has been a pivotal resource for plan participants during the COVID-19 pandemic – providing disease prevention and management education, support for changes in health coverage, and care coordination, including meal deliveries for COVID-positive families needing to self-isolate. Additionally, Ivana and Lisa’s real-life examples illustrated best practices for vaccine education and benefits communication.

This event is part of the 2021 Webinar Series: Innovative Purchasers and Their Health Care Purchasing Strategies. The series provides a platform for CPR’s diverse audience of benefit managers, health plans, providers, consultants, and other stakeholders to hear the stories of purchasers using their unique ability to push for big changes to the health care system.
