Which is the best hospital in your region for joint replacement surgery?
Over the past year, CPR has developed a customizable Value Index tool to help employers answer the question: What are the highest-value hospitals for joint replacement surgery for my plan members? The Value Index combines cost, quality, and geographic information to score and rank hospitals. Using zip code as the primary input, the Value Index displays the performance of the nearest hospitals and lists high-performing hospitals that may be farther away.
Value Index scores incorporate data from the Leapfrog Group, Turquoise Health, the Health Care Cost Institute, RAND, and CMS. Employers can use this information to power different provider network design strategies, such as Centers of Excellence (COE) and narrow networks, and direct contracting. They can also overlay the Value Index results over their current programs and identify opportunities for improvement.
